Mallorcab: mobility platform for taxis in Mallorca

Full development of a production taxi platform with mobile apps, backoffice, payments, real-time geolocation, automations and artificial intelligence.

Project overview

Mallorcab is a digital mobility platform for taxis in Mallorca, built from scratch and currently running in production. The system connects customers, drivers, operators and administrators through a rider mobile app, a driver app, an operations backoffice, integrated payments, real-time geolocation and municipal landing pages.

The platform serves real users at high volume: more than 300 connected drivers, more than 300,000 registered customers and more than 3 million services created. It is not a prototype or a demo — it is an operational product with payments, service assignment, monitoring, support and infrastructure ready to scale.

Context and need

Mallorca’s taxi sector needs digital tools capable of managing real-time demand, multiple municipalities, bookings, payments and daily operations without relying on manual processes or disconnected systems. Customers, drivers and operators have different needs, but they must share the same source of truth.

The environment is demanding: high activity in peak season, constant status changes, precise geolocation, billing, driver subscriptions and ongoing support. The platform had to be production-ready from day one — not just to validate an idea.

The problem to solve

The challenge was to build a complete digital alternative for taxis in Mallorca: request services, assign drivers, track trips, control zones, manage bookings, collect payments, invoice and provide support from a centralized system.

Operational complexity also had to be resolved: multiple profiles (customer, driver, operator, administrator), real-time communication, mobile payment integration, Bluetooth taximeter connectivity and support tools that would not overwhelm the human team as volume grew.

The solution Digitup built

Digitup designed and developed a complete ecosystem: mobile apps for customers and drivers, an operations backoffice, a scalable backend, real-time geolocation, payments, bookings, invoicing, municipal landing pages and AI layers for call center, translations and support.

The architecture was planned for production from day one: databases suited to each data type, cache and real time, authentication, CI/CD, servers, monitoring and ongoing maintenance. The result is a platform that can operate daily and evolve without rebuilding the product core.

What we built

An end-to-end mobility product — not just a standalone app.

Rider app

Request a taxi, track the driver, manage bookings and pay from the phone.

Driver app

Manage services, trip statuses, subscriptions and on-the-road operations.

Operations backoffice

Panel for operators and admins: map, zones, services and daily control.

Real time

Geolocation, assignment and tracking with continuous communication between actors.

Payments and billing

Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, driver subscriptions and invoice generation.

AI support

Virtual call center, translations and assistance in customer–operator management.

Key features

AI layer

In Mallorcab, AI is not decorative — it is part of support and operations. An AI-powered virtual call center absorbs part of initial conversations, reduces human workload and maintains continuity during demand spikes.

Models are also used for translations and to support management between customers and operators. The goal is for artificial intelligence to improve response times and operational quality, integrated with the backend and business rules — not as a generic chatbot disconnected from the product.

Architecture and technology

The stack combines hybrid apps, a robust backend and data layers designed for real time and daily operations. Ionic and Angular power the mobile apps; NestJS organizes the backend; PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis cover structured data, flexibility and cache/real time as needed.

Firebase Auth handles authentication; Stripe, Apple Pay and Google Pay handle payments; Google Maps and WebSockets support geolocation and live communication. WordPress is used for municipal landing pages. CI/CD, VPS/servers and monitoring enable safe deployment, maintenance and product evolution.

Where Digitup added value

End-to-end involvement: product, architecture, apps, backend, AI, payments and infrastructure.

Complete product

Definition and build of the customer–driver–operator–admin ecosystem.

Real time and maps

Stable geolocation, assignment and tracking under real-world conditions.

Payments and operations

Integration of collections, subscriptions, invoicing and daily flows.

Applied AI

Virtual call center, translations and support connected to the business.

Scalability

Architecture, CI/CD and servers ready for volume and evolution.

Maintenance

Ongoing support of the product in production — not just initial delivery.

Project impact

Mallorcab is one of the most complete projects Digitup has built. It combines mobility, mobile apps, payments, real time, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, operational support and scalability in a product used by real customers and drivers.

Impact is measured not only in features delivered, but in continuous operation: services created, drivers connected, payments processed and a system that lets operators manage day-to-day work with visibility and control. It demonstrates Digitup’s ability to build complex platforms from scratch and keep them running in production.
